The Vulcan Lodge No.4510

Masonry was established north of the river Tees in Stockton in the mid 18th Century and south of the river in Middlesbrough 100 years later.
There were five lodges already existing in Middlesbrough when Vulcan Lodge No.4510 was consecrated under the United Grand Lodge of England on 14th March 1923 in the Masonic Hall, Marton Road.

At the time the Vulcan lodge was formed, the main industry and employer in the town was Iron and Steel so it was natural that the lodge name chosen reflect some aspect of this. The lodge logo chosen represented a large steam driven hammer widely used in the Iron and Steel Industry.

Subsequent to the establishment of the Vulcan Lodge, a further six lodges of various types have been consecrated in the town, reflecting the continuing popularity of Masonry in the area.

All the lodges moved to the present home in the Masonic Hall, Roman Road in 1975.
